Romance is in the air. Chocolate hearts, roses, and greeting cards are everywhere…but did you ever think about giving your loved one Valentine sweets and treats as a gift from a bakery? You will now after you read my Valentine Poem:
Heart-shaped cakes and cookies or a sweet red cherry pie,
Many yummy bakery treats available to buy.
How about some danish or a special chocolate try?
Did you ever give cannoli for Valentine’s Day?
Pink sprinkle covered cupcakes, cheese cakes shaped like a heart,
Chocolate covered strawberries, cakes that look like art.
Designer shoes with matching bags look lovely on display,
Gifts from our bakery to give on Valentine’s Day!
Donuts, muffins, cream puffs, an assortment of cake pops,
Pick up one of each, pull out all the stops!
Whichever treat you choose, you won’t make a mistake,
Cause what is Valentine’s Day without delicious cake?!
Here is a simple, inexpensive and tasty recipe that makes a great Valentine’s Day treat or gift:
Easy Oreo Truffles (Everyone LOVES Oreos!)
1 (16 ounce) package OREO Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, divided
2 (8 ounce) packages Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate (or chocolate chips), melted
1 (8 ounce) package Cream Cheese, softened
Crush 9 of the cookies to fine crumbs in food processor; reserve for later use. (Cookies can also be finely crushed in a re-sealable plastic bag using a rolling pin.) Crush remaining 36 cookies to fine crumbs; place in medium bowl. Add cream cheese; mix until well blended. Roll cookie mixture into 42 balls or shape them into hearts, about 1-inch in diameter.
Dip balls in chocolate; place on wax paper-covered baking sheet. (Any leftover chocolate can be stored at room temperature for another use.) Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs.
Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour. Store leftover truffles, covered, in refrigerator.
Arrange them in a decorated or heart shaped box and give them as a Valentine’s Day gift!
From Our Family to Your Family with Love…
3D Turkey Cake – Live
With Thanksgiving only two weeks away the anticipation begins. Ever since I was a kid, Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday. I love sharing the traditional meal with my family and friends. The only difference is that now it’s at my house and I do most of the cooking – and I love it! Even though busy is the new normal; it’s wonderful to have this special day just for family and friends to share food, fun and tradition. My table is set; the delicious smells fill the air, my excitement mounts and then the doorbell rings – here come my guests! This is a happy time.
Italian Rum Cake
I am blessed and grateful to welcome 30-40 people into my home. The hustle and bustle and the sounds of the kids; especially when I hear the oooh’s and ahhh’s as they see our table. The centerpiece is our adorable and festive 3-D Turkey cake. The kids love it – and it will feed 10-12 people. Before we sit down to eat the kids Instagram or tweet pictures of it to their friends. As you can imagine, we go all out in the dessert department, after all, we are the Oteri’s of Oteri’s Italian Bakery. So our dessert table is crowded with an abundance of traditional cakes, pies, pastries – Italian Rum Cake, Italian Ricotta Pie, Pumpkin Pie and of course our cannoli! As much as we love the traditional turkey, stuffing and cranberries…bring on the desserts!
